Elizabeth Lauten Resigns After Her Comments About Obama's Daughters Back fire

Elizabeth Lauten, communications director for Rep. Stephen Fincher (R-Tenn.), is resigning following her facebook post blasting Malia and Sasha Obama for their clothes and "classless" attitudes during the White House turkey pardoning ceremony last week.

Jessica Carter, chief of staff for Fincher, said Monday that Lauten resigned. Carter had no additional comment on a personnel matter.

In Lauten's rant over the weekend, she scoffed at their choice of clothes, advising them to “dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar. And certainly don’t make faces during televised, public events."

"I get you’re both in those awful teenage years, but you’re a part of the first Family, try showing a little class,” Lauten wrote in the post. Though it has since been deleted, a screen grab was posted by The Root on Saturday.

Lauten added that, “then again your mother and father don’t respect their positions very much, or the nation for that matter, so I’m guessing you’re coming up a little short in the ‘good role model’ department.”

Hours after the post went viral, Lauten issued an apology, "after many hours of prayer, talking to my parents and re-reading my words online, I can see more clearly how hurtful my words were.

Please know that these judgmental feelings truly have no (place) in my heart,” she wrote.

Next time you gotta think before you talk...hmmmm.
