Cop in critical condition after he jumped into lions Den

A Spanish cop is in critical condition after he jumped into the lion
enclosure at Barcelona Zoo and was mauled.

The man reportedly climbed over railings and started scaling a wall
between the lion and tiger cages when he was attacked by one of the
animals.

A lioness grabbed his leg, brought him down to the ground and then
dragged him into a service tunnel, according to 20 Minutos.

Horrified tourists could only look on in terror as the big cats pawed
and swiped at the unexpected intruder on Sunday afternoon.

Some threw stones at the animals in a bid to scare them away.

Firefighters then arrived on the scene and used high-powered jet hoses
to move the predators away.

The man, covered in scratches and bite marks, was extricated from the
cage — some 30 minutes after the attack began.

He was taken to Vall D'Hebron Hospital, where he remains in the
intensive care unit in a critical condition.

It's not known why the man, believed to be a 45-year-old named Justo
Jose, carried out the bizarre and incredibly dangerous stunt.
