Glee Star Charice Pempengco Comes Out Of The Closet

An emotional Charice Pempengco wiped away tears after she ended months of speculation by going public about being gay.

The ex-Glee singer has followed the likes of her former co star Chris Colfer and Star Trek's Zachary Quinto by being open and honest about their sexuality.

Charice, 21, made the revelation during an interview on Sunday with Boy Abunda, who hosts the Filipino showbiz show The Buzz. When asked about rumors surrounding her sexuality by the host she replied in Filipino:

'Opo, tomboy po ako,' which translates to 'Yes, I am a lesbian.'
During the interview the talented singer became overwhelmed with emotion by breaking down in tears as she appeared to be relieved but emotional.
'Now, I feel free. I can go out of the house without fear and be certain that I'm not stepping on anybody's toes,' she added.

Charice - who was called 'the most talented girl in the world' by chat show queen Oprah Winfrey - was originally discovered on South Korean talent show Star King back in 2007. The singer then further raised her profile by appearing on the Ellen De Generes Show before releasing her debut album in the Philippines in 2008.

But until Sunday's revelation she had remained silent about her sexuality and even admitted on The Buzz that she feared that some of her fans would not support her once she came out.

There's no bizness. like showbizness.
