Man Finds Original Coca-Cola Recipe and Puts It up For Sale On eBay For $15 million

A man in Georgia has claimed that he's unearthed an original recipe for Coca-Cola and is now selling it on eBay for $15 million.

Cliff Kluge, who lives in Ringgold, Georgia, with his wife, Arlene, uncovered the 1943 recipe recently after purchasing a box of old documents at an estate sale.

The pilot and antiques lover was shocked to find that included in the papers was what he claims to be an original recipe for the fizzy beverage — a formula that has been heavily guarded by the soft drink giant for over a century.

He's asking an eye-watering $15 million for the recipe, with an opening bid of $5 million. So far, there haven't been any prospective buyers entering the arena, despite the sale ending later Tuesday.

Speaking with ABC News, Kluge said that he believes the letter is indeed authentic because "whoever had typed this letter had seen the original recipe."

The key ingredients of the Coca-Cola have been blocked out so no one but the owner of the documents could see how the famed beverage is made.

A representative for Coca-Cola did not immediately respond to the Daily News' request for comment. The original recipe from the 19th century remains in a safe in the company's Atlanta headquarters.

In 2011, Public Radio International's popular program, "This American Life," claimed to unearth the original recipe for the fizzy drink. The website crashed within minutes as people raced to find out the magic combination of citrus, sugar, water, and other flavors.

Kluge said that he contacted Coca-Cola regarding his revelation, but his inquiry fell flat. "They told me they'd call me back in seven-10 business days," he told WTSP last week.

"Well, they haven't contacted me back."
