Vietnam Dog Snatchers Target People's Pets for Menu

Dog theft isn't a crime in Vietnam. Hundreds of dogs are stolen
everyday, kept under deplorable conditions and fed with rice to get
fat enough for the "market".

Dog meat is eaten throughout Southeast Asia, including China and the
Philippines.

"In the seven years I've been working, I've stolen round 3,000 dogs,
big and small," a dog thief told documentary reporter Nelufar Hedayat.

"People now have more money to spend on food, going out and partying,
and dog meat fits perfectly into that culture," Hedayat said.

Thieves can earn nearly $100 a night and business is brisk. Seven tons
of dog meat are brought to market in Vietnam's capital of Hanoi each
day.
